Commercial facilities called "TOKYO mizumachi" has opened on 18th of June 2020. This facilities is surprisingly under the railway overpass! There are two zones; the west zone and the east zone. Only the west zone has opened at this moment.
The name "mizumachi" means "water town". It was named because this area is waterfront town. Interesting thing is it is similar to the name "TOKYO soramachi" which is the facilities at TOKYO Skytree. The word "soramachi" means "sky town".
The walking footpath called "Sumida River Walk" has opened at the same time. It is under the railway viaduct over Sumida River.
The location of TOKYO mizumachi is 5 minutes on foot from the North Exit of Asakusa Station Tobu Skytree Line across Sumida River Walk.
