Shinkansen passengers with a baggage with overall dimensions of more than 160cm(*) are required to reserve a seat with oversized baggage space from 20 May 2020.
This new reservation policy called "baggage 160" is applied to Tokaido Shinkansen, Sanyo Shinkansen, and Kyushu Shinkansen.
No additional fee other than reserved seat fee is required.
However, 1,000 yen (including TAX) should be paid if the prior reservation is not made.
*) The total length, width, and height of luggage exceeds 160cm.
